I think we have the tail wagging the dog here. I've been told that proposed changes to the tennis/pickleball afternoon program resulted from two pickleball players refusing to share their court with other players. Aside from this annoyance, the previous system was fine. The pickleball courts were packed in the late afternoon and the tennis courts were moderately busy. I think the city is suggesting a solution to a problem that didn't exist.

I greatly appreciated the previous free open tennis play, which allowed our social tennis group flexibility to rotate players after playing a set without restricting participants to specific time slots or allocating fees based on individuals time on court. To me it seems public utilization of the tennis courts in the afternoons was higher before. Would like another open free afternoon (Monday or Wednesday). Recommend item be revisted in June, 2026 with staff data on operation thru winter months (afternoon court utilization, revenue, and staffing cost). Rex Claridge, RHE Tennis Club member
